Demonstration of the SilentBorder cosmic ray tomography system for the detection of contraband items in containers.

Date: June 19, 2025
Location
: at GScan’s R&D premises (Tehnopargi tee 5, Tõrvandi, 61715 Tartu County, Estonia)

During a 2.5 hour event, an open-air demonstration will be performed to showcase the performance of the SilentBorder cosmic ray tomography system in detecting contraband items, such as weapons and tobacco, inside sea containers. On-site, we will provide detailed explanations of the SilentBorder tomography technology, which is based on muon detection. To highlight the differences between muon and X-ray scans, we will also perform comparative measurements using a mobile X-ray device. The D-TECH software, developed by SGS, will be used to analyze and compare these two imaging technologies.

You can attend the Demo in one of two time slots: 10:00–12:30 or 14:00–16:30. The content will be identical in both sessions. A dedicated bus will pick up attendees from Tartu Central Bus Station and take them to the event, with return transport to the city centre after the demo. The Demo is followed by a social event with a boat tour and dinner in the evening at Lodjakoda in Tartu.
